Using Your Own Router

Some users prefer to use their own router, firewall, or other networking equipment instead of a WiBiBox.

Wifibri supports this and complies with the modem freedom regulations imposed by the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications (BIPT).

Requirements

To use your own equipment, it must support PPPoE connections.

You will also need valid PPPoE credentials.

Residential Installations GEN5

For residential GEN5 installations, a personal router can be connected directly to the Wifibri network.

PPPoE credentials are required for this setup.

These credentials are not provided by default, but customers with an active subscription can request them through the Wifibri helpdesk.

Once received, a PPPoE connection can be configured on your own router or firewall.

Important

  • Your router must support PPPoE.
  • The WiBiBox can be replaced by your own equipment.
  • Wifibri does not provide support for the configuration of third-party networking equipment.

Student Housing GEN4

For student housing GEN4 installations with a wired network connection, a PPPoE connection can be established directly.

Use your Wifibri username and password to authenticate.

After connecting, an internal IP address will be assigned.

Important

  • Your router must support PPPoE.
  • Use your personal Wifibri account to authenticate.
  • Wifibri does not provide support for the configuration of third-party networking equipment.
